Description:
Professor in Mechanical Pulping Technology at Mid Sweden University since 1st of February 2007. Director of the Industrial Research College in Mechanical Pulping Technology, co-financed by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen), Swedish and Norwegian Forest Industry and Suppier Companies (SCA, Stora-Enso, Norske Skog, Holmen, Metso Paper, Eka Chemicals, Eurocon Analyser) and in cooperation with CIT/CTH, PFI and NTNU with until 200908, 15 industry PhD and/or Licentiate students. The planning period of the research college is 2006 – 2011 and the work is performed by means of combined forces in terms of researchers at Universities, Institutes and developing as well as production people in the industry. The general goals within the mechanical pulping research area are to perform scientific and innovative technical research to help forest industry companies to improve energy efficiency, product quality and production efficiency. - During 2007 and 2008 a project regarding energy recovery in low consistency refining financed by Värmeforsk was started and finalized with promising results. Other projects have been started with support from,; NER (Nordic Energy Research), EU Goal 2, Kempe Foundation, Vinnova and Bo Rydins stiftelse. During the period 2007 – 2009 work has also been spent as examinator of PhD and Licentiate dissertations at MIUN and as opponent and examination committees at Åbo Academy in Finland, KTH and SLU in Sweden. Furthermore an increasing workload is spent on PhD Courses (4 dedicated Mechanical Pulping Technology at MIUN in cooperation with FPIRC of KTH; Process Operations, Bleaching Technology, Refining Theory and Control Strategies) and on Master Courses at MIUN as well as at KTH, Karlstad University and in some special courses arranged by MIUN, Packaging Greenhouse, P&L Nordic and the Finnish AEL. An important lately was the work as chairman for the International Mechanical Pulping Conference in Sundsvall 2009 as well as some efforts as chairman of the distinguished club called ERGS (Eminent Refiner Groundwood Scientists). New from 2009 a project “Filling the gap” (develop and utilize knowledge about what happens in the gap of refiners) in cooperation with Chalmers Industriteknik and several forest industry and supplier companies and from Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency.
