Description:
Since 2008, Matthias Fuchs, PhD, is full professor at the European Tourism Research Institute (ETOUR), Mid-Sweden University. Previously he was the director of the e-Tourism Competence Centre Austria (ECCA) where he also
supervised four large scale industry projects in the area of mobile information systems, online auctions, technology impact and diffusion as well as e-Learning. Until May 2010 Matthias served as the scientific supervisor at the ECCA. His research interests include information and communication technologies in tourism, tourism marketing, destination economics and management. As being the author or co-author of more than 120 academic publications Matthias was granted with the Austrian State sponsored Rudolf-Sallinger Research Price and was awarded by the International Research Promotion Council (IRPC) for the Eminent Scientist of the Year 2003.
Prof. Fuchs serves as editorial board member for the Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, Information Technology & Tourism, and Tourism Analysis. He is a member of the Int. Centre for Research and Education in Tourism (ICRET), Int. Federation for IT and Travel and Tourism (IFITT), the Royal Academic Council of Eminent Scientists, Erich Gutenberg Arbeitsgemeinschaft Köln e.V., Association Int. d´Experts Scientifiques du Tourisme (AIEST), the International Data Envelopment Analysis Society (iDEAs), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tourismuswissenschaft (DGT) and Tourism Education Futures Initiative (TEFI)
